Taiwanese police announced on Thursday that they had seized 450 kilograms (990 lb) of ketamine (Special K) in one of the biggest drug busts arrests on the island in recent years, according to the AFP.
Police arrested three suspects after discovering the drugs in a cargo container at Taichung harbour in central Taiwan on Wednesday after a tip-off, the Criminal Investigation Bureau said.
The value of the drugs seized was estimated to be worth over 62 million yuan, or NT$300 million. Manufacturing, transporting and dealing ketamine is punishable with a minimum of five years in prison.
Numerous studies have shown that ketamine – like fellow club drug MDMA – is effective at treating a range of psychological disorders, including depressing and post-traumatic stress disorder.
It’s definitely better for you than crystal meth.
