I bet you think I’m going to make a snide comment about Mo’s choice of shirt don’t you? You cynical, cynical person, the shirt is its own snide comment. Image credit: @bnsd.
Nobel prize winning author and lacklustre dissident Mo Yan has bought a house, state media is reporting.
The writer man spent 3.6 million yuan ($586,100) on a 200 sq metre (2,152 sq foot) property outside Beijing’s fifth ring road. Mo currently lives in a comparatively minuscule 91 square metre apartment with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson.
While we’re very much in favour of people buying houses not as investments but as places to live, let’s hope Mo doesn’t lose too much money when the Chinese housing bubble eventually pops. He’s only got 3.8 million yuan of his Nobel prize money left.
