Two of the six foreigners who were photographed pissing on one of our splendid, pristine Shanghai roads, have been fined 100 yuan by authorities, according to the Shanghai Daily.
“Urinating on the elevated road not only blemishes the city’s image but also poses hazard to traffic,” Wang said. “After the incident was exposed online, we began to investigate immediately and it took us a couple of days to find two offenders.”
It was the first time that foreigners were punished for urinating in public. According to local rules, urinating and pooping in public will incur fines of 100 yuan and 200 yuan respectively. Many people consider the fines too light in online tweets.
