On May 26, in Henan, Zhengzhou, China Animal Agricultural Association held its first pig sports day / obvious publicity stunt involving pigs.
Around six pigs went through eight different obstacle courses, which included activities such as sprinting, swimming, diving, and of course, a food-eating contest. Rumour has it the famous diving pigs from Changsha also took part in the event.
The CAAA event seeks to encourage cultural dialogue and to spark discussion about healthy attitudes towards pork consumption whilst at the same time promoting farming culture as well as encouraging best practice farming methodologies.
Unfortunately, 15,000 virus-infected river hogs didn’t make it through the porcine circovirus obstacle course qualifiers in Shanghai. Officials declined to comment.
