China’s Beyoncé, first lady Peng Liyuan, is at it again. Completely overshadowing her husband (some politician guy) with her classy awesomeness.
On a visit to Trinidad and Tobago with her husband, President Xi Jinping, the first lady impressed everyone with an impromptu performance on the steel drums, SCMP reports. Peng joined in with a steel band as they played two popular Chinese songs.
The world has taken to Peng Liyuan with great enthusiasm, Forbes named her one of the most powerful female celebrities in the world and other media outlets have compared to the likes of Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni.
China’s first couple was in Trinidad and Tobago as a part of their three-part Latin American tour. The visit is meant to boost relations between China and the islands and foster new collaborations, particularly in economic areas.
After this, Xi will visit Costa Rica and Mexico. The journey will culminate in a casual meeting with Barack Obama in California on June 7.
As yet we have been unable to locate any video of Peng playing the steel drums, because apparently Trinidadians (and the press corp accompanying Xi) don’t know a viral video moment when they see it.
