Great news for people with spare sheep cluttering up their house: you can now exchange them for gadgets!
Huang Jie, an enterprising computer dealer in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, handed out leaflets promoting his new business model, China Daily reports. “Many believe computers are very expensive,” the 29 year old explains in his hometown of Kashgar. “I want to show them that electronic products are actually quite affordable by comparing their values with their most familiar commodity – sheep.”
The entrepreneur believes that while money is scarce and sheep aplenty, most residents are getting ripped off when they sell their sheep at the market. “They can trade their sheep with me, and I help them sell the sheep at a fair price. I will return the money to them if it’s more than the price of the product they purchased.”
Sounding like a cute nursery rhyme for the digital age, his leaflet indicates one sheep can get you a smartphone, two will buy you a tablet, and four can buy you a laptop.
As of June 2 Huang Jie hasn’t made a deal yet, but a lot of local residents have shown interest. It’s definitely a better way of getting an iPad than giving up your kidney.
