Perusers of the first couple’s holiday snaps from Mexico may have spotted this photo of Peng Liyuan using an iPhone (5?) to take a photo of her own at Chichen Itza.
Peng’s use of an iPhone is ironic for several reasons. As a famous proponent of Chinese brands Peng should really be using a GooPhone. At the very least, she shouldn’t be using an iPhone, considering the Chinese government’s prolonged campaign against Apple.
More important perhaps than any potential accusations of hypocrisy against Peng for being an Apple fangirl are the revelations published this week by the Guardian:
The National Security Agency has obtained direct access to the systems of Google, Facebook, Apple and other US internet giants, according to a top secret document obtained by the Guardian.
The first couple are so worried about their privacy that they are choosing to stay in a hotel away from the implicitly-bugged-to-kingdom-come Sunnyvale estate (where Xi will meet Barack Obama this weekend). These revelations about the NSA’s PRISM program will likely be of extreme concern to Xi, given that some spy at the NSA has likely read his sexts to his wife by now.
