iOS 7 will play nice with both Tencent and Sina Weibo
Apple announced a raft of new features coming to iOS 7 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, check out Lifehacker and Gizmodo for full run analyses. One feature not much bandied about in American coverage is greater integration for Sina Weibo (added as a built-in service in iOS 6) and Tencent Weibo.
The notification centre has lost its share widget, which previously only supported Twitter and Facebook, presumably because to squeeze in all the new services (Flickr and Vimeo integration has also been added in iOS 7) wouldn't gel with Jony Ive's new faux-minimalist operating system.
Weibo integration isn't as useful as baked-in Twitter or Facebook since far fewer services use Weibo as an authentication or alternate login, but users are able to share photos directly to both Sina and Tencent Weibo and the field is set for developers to capitalise on this greater integration with China's largest social networks.
