Police came to the help of a distraught foreigner who had burst into years after getting lost in his apartment complex in Nanjing on June 10, chinanews.com reports.
The man, a French citizen surnamed Royer who had recently arrived in the country, approached apartment security for help when he couldn’t remember which one of the 91 buildings (!) in the complex contained his apartment.
Unable to understand him, the security guards called the police, who helped Royer find his way home using the limited clues he could provide: that the apartment was on the 16th floor, there was a white notice posted at the building entrance, and the Chinese character for “happiness” was on his door. The search took until 1am but the Frenchman did eventually make it home.
“There are so many buildings here and they all look the same,” Royer told reporters, before expressing his gratitude for the police officers’ help.
