What the fuck is wrong with people, seriously?
The Tsinghua University cat, a feline mascot beloved by staff and students who lived in the university library for 19 years, was found dead from an alleged boiling water attack the university announced on Friday.
The animal, officially called Dewey but nicknamed ‘cat curator’, was discovered as a kitten one winter by the university librarian almost frozen to death. The librarian nursed the cat back to health and it soon became a university institution.
News of the animal’s death was broken on Weibo by the university itself, which tweeted the terse message “Cat died, sorrow“, later following up with: “Cat scalded to death. One less cat, one more asshole“. The cat, which was found in a pool of still-warm water, had survived a previous attack in which scalding water was thrown over it.
Furious netizens vowed to track down the cat’s killer as the animal’s body was laid to rest beneath a gingko tree outside the library entrance.
