A 58 year old woman was struck by a sheet of glass which fell from the Siemens office building in Yangpu district on Tuesday afternoon, Shanghai Daily reports.
Around 5.30pm a 1.5 sq metre piece of glass snapped and fell from the 10th floor of the building on Dalian road, landing on the unfortunate pedestrian, surnamed Xu.
Xu bled from her face and arm after being hit by the glass fragment.
“I could not run fast and was hit,” said Xu, who was waiting to take a bus.
The company which manages the building blamed the summer heat for the accident. Temperatures in downtown Shanghai hit 37 degrees celsius on Tuesday.
