A Jiangxi father secretly followed his daughter for 1,200 kilometres as she biked across China, Xi’an Evening News reports.
Some people like to think that they are being figuratively watched over while they travel, by Jesus say, or deceased relatives. 22 year old Liao Jingwen on the other hand, was being literally watched over by her very alive father for the entirety of her 16 day bicycle journey from Xi’an to Yichun, Jiangxi province.
A graduate of Xi’an International Studies University, Liao had planned the 1,200 km trip as a ceremonial end to her college career. Her father, as parents are wont to do, saw it as a chance to get robbed and/or murdered in five different provinces. Liao’s father tailed his daughter throughout her trip in his car, maintaining a safe distance so that she wouldn’t get freaked out like “oh shit that car’s been following me for three days”.
After news of her father’s actions broke online, Liao said she was “deeply touched” by his gesture.
