This video comes from the Xierqi station of Beijing’s subway at around 7:30 on July 18, 2013. The station (which appears to be dangerously over capacity) is situated on line 13 in the north end of the city. Looks like many of these riders are going to be late for work, and at around the 0:32 mark it even looks like a man exiting the train is pushed back onto the subway car.
Since January, Beijing transport authorities have been practicing passenger flow restrictions to mitigate passenger overflow on busy lines, but at this point it would seem that their efforts have not worked.
The Beijing subway system transported 7.62 million people every day in January 2013, and for the whole of 2012 the underground transport has 2.46 billion riders. According to Beijing Daily, on July 12, 2013, 11.0469 million riders used the city’s subway setting a record for most ridership in a single day.
