In a new addition to the list of tried-and-true ways not to smuggle wildlife onboard an aircraft, a man at Guangzhou International Airport was caught on Monday attempting to sneak his pet turtle through security in the clever guise of a KFC hamburger, according to the SCMP.
The man was stopped by security guards at the airport X-ray machines when they noticed some strange “protrusions” sticking out of the burger inside of his bag.
That was when the very short interrogation went down, as reported by the Guangzhou Daily.
“Sir, are you sure there are no turtles in your bag?” an agent asked.
“There’s no turtle in there – just a hamburger,” replied the man. “There’s nothing special to see inside.”
Likely story. The man was forced to hand the protrusion-ed sandwich over to his friend as he travelled onward without his trusty turtle companion.
Parting is such sweet sorrow, though probably not as painful an experience as that suffered by the nine Taiwanese nationals caught smuggling gold up their anuses.
