Chinese college grads, just like us! Over three million college graduates in China are struggling to find work, according to report released on Sunday.
The ‘2012 China Social Security Reform and Development Report’ says that with almost seven million graduates this year, the number of young people estimated to be unemployed or underemployed is over three million.
The report also rebukes calls to raise the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65 to help reduce the burden of an ageing population, pointing out that 30 percent of job vacancies currently come from the retired.
Despite the generally shitty job market, Chinese millennials are largely positive about the future, even though, like their counterparts in the west, they are often held responsible for their own lack of opportunity by the very people who should bear the blame.
