A group of men in Dongguan recently paraded through South Mall Amazing World amusement park in high heels to show solidarity with women.
A+ for effort I guess, but doesn’t it seem like there are better ways to campaign for sexual equality (if that’s indeed what these guys are doing) than wearing some high heels for a couple hours?
The event may have been inspired by the Walk A Mile in Her Shoes initiative, which seeks to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence. We’ve written in the past about the prevalence of domestic violence and marital rape in China, as well as the ongoing problem of sexual harassment on the country’s public transport systems. Wearing some uncomfortable shoes at a fairground is the same as being groped on the subway or beaten by your husband, right?
