A Chinese sailor with far too much time on his hands entered disputed waters around the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands where he dumped around 100 flags into the sea, because nothing symbolises Chinese territorial claims better than polluting the natural environment.
45 year old Zhai Mo became the first Chinese national to single-handedly sail around the world in 2009. In a Weibo post, Zhai says he was able to get within three nautical miles of the island chain.
Though Zhai’s boat, the Jiangtaigong, was intercepted by Japanese coastguard vessels, the waterborne troll was protected by boats belonging to the China Coast Guard, which later escorted him back to Rizhao in Shandong province.
