The Atlantic just shared ‘26 Years of Growth: Shanghai then and now‘. This interactive article lets readers see the difference between Shanghai in 1987 and the megalopolis it is in 2013.
The pictures that come from photographer Carlos Barria illustrate the sheer speed and massiveness of China’s development in the past 30 years. You can even watch the city grow from outer-space.The 2013 photo shows the Shanghai tower, which will be the 2nd tallest building in the world when finished. The mega-structure recently held a capping off ceremony which then subsequently made the building much more attractive to lightning strikes.
