A man and his dog both died after a pet pool in Beijing’s Chaoyang Park became electrified on Friday, Shanghai Daily reports.
The 26 year old was electrocuted after he leapt into the pool to save his dogs. His wife was also shocked trying to save her husband, but survived. Two of the three dogs died.
The cause of the electric shocks is unknown.
In a similar case last month, a Russian expat was hospitalised trying to save his dog from a pool in Shanghai. He later died. Reports suggest that lights in the pool malfunctioned, causing the water to become electrified, despite supposed fail-safes in place to prevent this from happening.
