A 13 year old rape victim in Guangxi was handcuffed and sent to a mental hospital by police officers, Beijing Times reports.
Officers told reporters that they had to handcuff the girl because she was “unstable” and a danger to others. Police were apparently so terrified of the harm that a thirteen year old girl could do to them that they thought it wise to lock her up too.
The victim allegedly met a 25 year old man, surnamed Feng, online in February. They met for the first time in a local park in Luchuan, Guangxi, after which Feng took the girl to hotel where he raped her several times.
Feng told police he was unaware the girl was underage when he had sex with her.
The girl was reportedly left with a “mental disorder” after the incident. During the investigation, police handcuffed the girl over her family’s protestations “to prevent her from attacking others”. She was later sent to a local mental hospital.
