Monkeys on Mount Lu (Lushan) are breeding too fast for authorities to handle and so will be given birth control to keep numbers down, Shenzhen Media Group reports.
Monkeys were introduced to the area in 2005, but have recently gotten out of control, what with their short skirts and sultry looks at that ruffian with the motorcycle. Officials have decided that the best thing for the moneys — and society — is for them to go on the pill.
A similar scheme was rolled out in Hong Kong in 2011, and has been hailed as a success in reducing the amount of nuisance simians around the city. However, there is a risk that giving monkeys and other primates human birth control may affect them in unforeseen ways.
