A man in Qingdao, Shandong province held off construction workers and over 100 police officers trying to carry out the demolition of his house in the city’s Laoshan district.
According to QTV Today the man, surnamed Wang, was resisting the demolition of his house as part of an overpass project related to the 2014 World Horticultural Expo.
When police officers arrived with construction workers to oversee the forced demolition of the property on Sunday morning, Wang began throwing homemade bombs off a second floor balcony.
Eventually the helpless police officers managed to find a friend of Wang to persuade the amateur grenadier to surrender. Wang was arrested and his house emptied.
By that afternoon a total of over 3,000 square metres of housing was removed without further complication.
