Bo Xilai’s trial is coming on Thursday, and will surely be opaque, confused, and contradictory. It seems as though some of those lovely adjectives have spread beyond Bo himself; Neil Heywood’s family reportedly issued their first public statement on August 12th, but are now claiming that it wasn’t them at all.
He Zhengsheng is the Heywood family’s attorney, and he spoke out against the statement which was first reported in the Wall Street Journal. South China Morning Post reports:
[He Zhengsheng] wrote on his verified Sina Weibo account that the statement issued recently “in some individual media” on the compensation deal over the murder case “contradicted the existing facts and was misleading the public”. […]
“The statement was not released by the family of Neil Heywood,” said He in a phone interview with the South China Morning Post, adding that negotiations between lawyers for Heywood and Gu were continuing.
Ali Bullock, a spokesman for The Wall Street Journal, said: ” The Journal accurately reported the content of a statement released by Ann Heywood.”
Some screenwriter eager to cash in on the Bo Xilai scandal is surely breaking his pencils in frustration over another goddamn plot twist.
