Baidu, China’s top search engine and best Google imitator ever, is rolling out its own version of Street View, beginning with Shenyang, Wuxi and Fenghuang.
Baidu Total View is very similar to Google Street View (which is unavailable in mainland China, a situation that is unlikely to change anytime soon) but with more jaywalking, as Tech in Asia’s Steven Millward points out.
According to Baidu the company expects to receive over 200 million daily visitors to its online maps service, which receives over 3.5 billion “position requests” every day.
While Total View seems to be very well designed (and quick, even on a VPN), the title of coolest Baidu Maps feature still belongs to the service’s awesome Sim City style 3D view.
