A 62 year old man from Pingtung, Taiwan was threatened with legal action after he accidentally posted a link to a friend’s wall on Facebook, China Times reports.
The man, surnamed Chen, had only recently joined the site. He was attempting to share an article about self-esteem with his friends when he inadvertently posted it to the wall of one of his contacts, a woman surnamed Kwan.
Showing a startling lack of self-esteem and common sense, Kwan was outraged and demand that Chen delete the link (why she didn’t just delete it herself is unclear). Chen told reporters that he did not respond immediately as he needed his children’s help to delete the post.
Kwan then threatened Chen with a libel suit, saying that the post would cause her friends (on Facebook) to believe she had psychological issues.
The duo eventually reached an (insane) agreement by which Chen will post three messages of apology to Kwan on Facebook in the next month, after which Kwan will drop her suit.
Understandably, Chen told reporters he plans to deactivate his Facebook account after he has posted the apologies. Perhaps Kwan should do the same.
