At 439 kilometres, the Shanghai Metro is already the third longest metro system in the world (after Seoul and a smidge behind Beijing) and it’s getting longer. By 2020, the network will span 877 kilometres across 22 lines.
Residents of the city may have noticed new stations popping up (particularly those serving Line 11 which connects parts of the former French Concession). Here are two maps showing what the subway system will look like in years to come (click for larger).
