At least one person has been killed in an explosion near a school in Guilin, Guangxi province on Monday morning, Xinhua reports.
Witnesses said the blast occurred around 8am, when a man riding a three-wheeled motorcycle passed the entrance to Balijie Primary School in downtown Guilin.
“First, the motorcycle caught on fire and then it exploded with a huge sound that could be heard from far, far away,” a witness told Xinhua.
Several people have been hospitalised with injuries from the blast.
Update 14:00: The death toll has risen to two, Sina reports, with at least 17 injured.
