Four miners have been trapped following a coal mine collapse in Inner Mongolia, Shanghai Daily reports.
The Huangyuchuan coal mine, owned by Shenhua Yili Energy Co, is located in Xuejiawan in Jungar Banner.
Rescue operations are under way.
China’s mining industry is afflicted by numerous accidents due to poor safety measures and negligent supervision. The accident occurred on the same day as five people choked to death after inhaling poisonous gas underground in a pyrite mine in Hunan.
Also this week, five workers were trapped in an iron mine due to flooding in Liaoning province.
In May, two explosions within 24 hours claimed the lives of over 40 miners in Guizhou and Sichuan provinces.
The central government recently announced plans to expand the number of coal powered electricity plants in the country.
