A quick Google for “Beard Transplant” assures us that yes, this is an actual thing. A man in Changsha, Hunan Province, received a beard implant earlier this week but, unhappy with a minor rash following the procedure, returned to the hospital and stabbed three nurses in the face.
According to GBTimes:
He [the patient] met with his plastic surgeon several times to complain about small red dots that had appeared on his upper lip.
Doctor diagnosed the patient with folliculitis and told that the inflammation should disappear on its own. [sic.] He was also explained that it takes about six months for the beard surgery to take effect.
After the consultation on Monday morning, the patient stabbed three nurses with a knife before fleeing the crime scene.
According to police, two nurses received brutal facial wounds in the attack. One of them is in a serious condition, although her injuries are not life threatening. Among the injured nurses was a pregnant woman. Doctors said there is a possibility that she might lose her baby.
The man, whose name has not been released, is still on the run. This incident was the first random crazed stabbing to grace Shanghaiist’s pages in nearly one week.
