According to the World Congress of Gastroenterology, about 4 to 6 percent of China’s adult population suffer from chronic constipation with the rate expected to increase with age with up to 22 percent of people aged 60 and above. The rise is due to dietary modifications, an accelerated pace of life, social psychological reasons and exploding toilets.
Public awareness of the problem and proper diagnosis and treatment is important especially with chronic diseases becoming the top killer in Shanghai for the elderly.
Maybe now is a good time to get into the enema business.
