A woman in Nanjing was arrested for allegedly hiring a hitman online to kill her father so she could claim her inheritance, Xinhua reports.
Police in Nanjing arrested the woman, surnamed Hu and the 19 year old suspected hitman, surnamed Zheng, five hours after Hu’s 64 year old father was found dead at his home on September 22.
Hu allegedly contacted Zheng online and offered him an unspecified amount of money to kill her father, surnamed Fu, with whom she had quarrelled.
According to her mother, who divorced Fu two decades ago, Hu may have arranged the murder in order to obtain her inheritance. Hu was unemployed and reportedly discussed potentially killing her father for the inheritance with friends.
According to Modern Express, hiring a hitman online was as simple as posting in a QQ ‘Assassination’ group. A reporter who posted queries in the group was quoted 100,000 yuan as a standard price to have someone killed.
