Chinese police officers have been warned against excessive drinking, brawling, frequenting nightclubs and are generally just told to actually do their job in an attempt to mend ties between the police and the public, Xinhua reports.
Police are not allowed to turn a blind eye to people’s dangers and troubles, according to a three-point discipline issued by the Ministry of Public Security on Sunday.
The ministry said that a very few policemen do not enforce self-discipline and have even violated laws and regulations, which has tarnished the image of the police and seriously damaged ties between the police and the people.
The attempt to promote better work styles among China’s police comes as part of the government’s campaign to boost relations between Communist Party of China officials and the general public. Other efforts have included cracking down on political corruption and stepping up the brainwashing of children.
