Hunan farmers captured and killed a monster rat that had been terrorizing a Shaoyang county village and devouring fish whole, according to Hunan-based Sanxiang Metropolis Daily.
Farmers had allegedly first spotted a mammoth rodent snatching 3kg fish from the village pond (before it presumably returned to the New York city sewers to teach the Ninja Turtles ninjutsu). The farmers finally surrounded and killed the rat, which was almost a meter-long and weighed 5kg.
Not wanting to waste the abundant meat, they cooked the rodent up, and apparently broke two knives on its behemoth bones in the process. It’s a shame as they probably could’ve made money by using it to supply counterfeit lamb (maybe even counterfeit rack of lamb if it’s as big as they say) for all the Little Sheep outlets.
Rat is traditionally eaten in Guangdong, where it’s served braised, stewed, cooked in soup, or roasted and hung alongside duck. It’s believed to be three times more nutritious than chicken.
