Two men in Xi’an, Shaanxi province have sparked outrage online after they posed for a selfie (peace signs and stupid grins included) next the body of a car crash victim, Huasheng Daily reports.
The incident occurred on September 30, an unidentified man was hit and killed by a car on Xiguan Strait Road. The body was covered by a sheet as locals waited for the police to arrive. Two passersby, spotting the crowd and the sheet-draped corpse, instantly thought: profile pic!
After a photo of the two men posing circulated online, residents identified one of the men as a local shop assistant. Questioned by reporters, the man admitted that it was him in the photo, he claimed to have been blackout drunk at the time.
The man bought 2,000 yuan worth of paper spirit money to burn as an offering at the scene of the accident.
The victim still has not been identified, police say he may have been homeless.
