Forget violent video games, voodoo dolls sold at trinket stores are currently all the rage among Sichuan youths with the most popular being dolls used to curse people. Stores also sell voodoo dolls symbolizing love and protection, but who wants that crap when you can rain cinderblocks down on teachers who only gave you a 95% on the math test.
Most buyers are reportedly women (which may explain the recent spate of seemingly neutered boyfriends bending to their girlfriend’s every whim), and most targets are teachers – hopefully these guys.
The labels on some curse dolls read: “May you fall into a steaming pot. May you be bitten by a black snake on the ankle and stung by a bee when you kneel down. May you be fed to bugs at night. May everything go wrong with you.”
Though judging by recent events, youths have clearly been wishing for more hornet than bee stings, as well as intractable food safety and pollution issues.
