A Bighead carp weighing 50 kilograms was chopped up, cooked, and honored as the World’s Biggest Hunan Cuisine Dish in the 23nd Chinese Chef Festival in Changsa.
The 1.4 meter long fish was captured and raised in the Jiang Ya River reservoir in Zhang Jiajie four years ago. Bighead fish, famous for their huge heads [editor’s note: thank you for the clarification], are considered the best raw material for Hunan cuisine.
On Sunday, the giant fish was presented as the famous Hunan dish, “steamed fish head in chili sauce.” A special porcelain plate was created to serve the dish.
Organizers have submitted the dish to the Guinness World Records and are awaiting confirmation. In these photos, please remember that all of the meat is from one single goddamn fish.
