Pictures of an affordable housing complex in Qingdao blew up on the net when people realized that some of the windows on the side of the building were painted on.
The windows, which were painted with the original construction of the building, have been criticized by netizens as a poor style choice, as well as “cutting corners” in the building’s design. Qingdao’s city planning bureau responded by saying the “decorative” windows break no planning regulations and have no impact on the building’s residents.
But perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised considering China’s knack for faking everything from Lamborghinis to Lions, to the Taj Mahal.
