Actor/model/bro Ashton Kutcher has signed on as a ‘product engineer’ for the Chinese electronics company Lenovo, where he will bring his wealth of knowledge and wholesome-yet-edgy good looks into the world of tablets, smartphones, and server workstations.
USA Today covered Kutcher’s career transition with a respectable amount of seriousness, although one assumes the author was either giggling or scratching his head while typing away. Even Kutcher himself can only speak of his new job in platitudes and clichés, as USA Today was kind enough to report:
The partnership amounts to a calculated risk for Lenovo and the star of the CBS comedy, Two and a Half Men. […]
“If you look at my career, what’s constant is I like to take risks — so does Lenovo,” Kutcher said.
“Lenovo is all about innovation and strong leadership,” said Kutcher […]
“This partnership goes beyond traditional bounds by deeply integrating him into our organization as a product engineer,” said David Roman, chief marketing officer at Lenovo.
“Ashton will help us break new ground by challenging assumptions, bringing new perspective and contributing his technical expertise to Yoga Tablet and other devices.”
Presumably, his role as Steve Jobs in (what was that movie’s name?) was more than enough experience to qualify Kutcher as a product engineer for a multi-billion dollar international electronics manufacturer.
