A 10-year-old boy jumped 30 floors to his death after failing to write a punishment letter demanded by his teacher, SCMP reports.
The fifth grade student had been ordered to write a 1,000 character punishment letter for talking in class, but after the child failed to complete the task, the teacher told him to jump out of a building.
“Teacher, I can’t do it,” was found written in one of his textbooks.
Strict discipline is an “essential part” of China’s education system and puts students under severe pressure to obey and follow instructions.
Just yesterday a primary school teacher was fired after making children slap each other. A few weeks ago, a mother publicly whipped her daughter after catching her skip class.
