Four Chinese women brawled with a foreign couple over luggage space on a flight across Yunnan Province, because apparently both parties learned their airplane etiquette on the last life raft off the Titanic.
According to eyewitnesses, tension started brewing earlier on a tour bus when the foreign couple returned late from sightseeing, leading to a verbal altercation. Shenanigans escalated when they boarded the plane and discovered that there was limited luggage space, Xinhua reports.
Tempers flared, and one of the Chinese women splashed water on the wife, who lunged at her. Her three cronies then rushed in and started yanking the husbands hair before a flight attendant allegedly intervened and told them to take it outside (unfortunately the plane wasn’t in the air at that point).
After a long drawn-out negotiation with airport police the Chinese women agreed to pay the couple 300RMB in compensation. They were also somehow allowed back on the plane, upon which a flight attendant was assigned to monitor them for the remainder of the flight. Chalk up another win for air travel in China.
