Xinhua reported this morning that a 41-year-old Taiyuan resident and ex-convict named Feng Zhijun has confessed to setting off the explosions near Communist Party Headquarters in Taiyuan, Shanxi that killed one person and injured at least eight others on Wednesday.
According to the report, Feng Zhijun was apprehended around 2 am in Taiyuan on Friday. Police found homemade explosive devices and criminal evidence in the man’s home.
Xinhua reports that Feng had previously spent nine years in prison for larceny and confessed to police that he set off the homemade bombs in Taiyuan.
The blasts from the explosive devices occurred around 7:40 am on Wednesday. As many as seven “explosive sounds” were heard before several ball bearings and circuit boards were found scattered all over the scene.
