Reports are coming in that North Korean authorities held a public execution ceremony in a sports stadium and killed some eighty citizens earlier this month and oh hey, the stewardesses in the DPRK’s airline have new uniforms.
Eighty were executed on the charge of, among other things, “watching foreign television programs” as the AFP reports:
In the eastern port of Wonsan, the authorities gathered 10,000 people in a sports stadium to watch the execution of eight people [sic. but actually 80] by firing squad, the source quoted one eyewitness as saying.
Most were charged with watching illicit South Korean TV dramas, and some with prostitution.
But on the other hand, But it’s not all bad, as NKNews details:
Replacing the airlines’ previous red and white uniform, the new Air Koryo uniform features a studded white trim and hat complete with golden emblem. […]
“These contemporary looking uniforms, a somewhat stark contrast to the original, classic uniforms presently being phased out, may well be part of Air Koryo’s efforts to project an image of modernity to their customers” North Korean airline specialist David Thompson of Juche Travel Services, which is based near London.
Oh North Korea, so weird, so kooky, and such an impoverished, totalitarian, prison-state wasteland.
