The Next Magazine reports that in addition to eating placenta, Chinese high rollers are now turning to cannibalizing “more mature fetuses (basically babies)” to boost virility, a practice facilitated by forced abortion spurred by the one-child policy. And we have to admit, this storyboard for Faces of Death 2 is amazing. We’ll send it to the film execs right away. Oh wait, this is an actual report? Lematinal reports:
According to The Next Magazine, during a banquet hosted by a Taiwanese businessman, a servant Ms Liu from Liaoning province on the mainland inadvertently revealed the habit of eating infants/fetuses in Liaoning province and her intention to return for the supplement due to health concerns.
Ms Liu also disclosed that even though people can afford the human parts there are still waiting lists and those with the right connections get the “highest quality” human parts, which translates to the more mature fetuses.
On March 22, 2003, police in Bingyan, Guangxi Province seized 28 female babies smuggled in a truck from Yulin, Guangxi Province going to Houzhou in Anhui Province.
Although China has laws that prohibit the eating of human fetus, the regime’s forced abortions to ensure the one child policy is strictly adhered to thereby creating many opportunities for these sorts of atrocities to occur.
Now, at this point, we’re basing whether or not we believe this story on whether or not we believe this story. But it does reek of Sinophobic BS. First off, the attached vid/compilation of stills (below) makes 1980s goresploitation flicks like Cannibal Holocaust look like BBC documentaries. Think some Anhui officials might have had a hand in the photoshop as well.
The “believable” vid
Not to mention that many of these stories gained momentum with a report by the Daily Mail, which has never ever published scare-mongering drivel about China before:
“The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born.
“The tiny corpses are then bought, stored in household refrigerators in homes of those involved in the trade before they are removed and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves.
“Once the skin is tinder dry, it is pummeled into powder and then processed into capsules along with herbs to disguise the true ingredients from health investigators and customs officers.”
This conclusion came from a report where South Korean customs officials confiscated capsules filled with powdered baby remains, which according to A Ministry of Health spokesman, were never proven to be manufactured in China. Then through some twisted media game of telephone, this transformed into “Chinese people eat babies.”
And yes, there have been reports and clips of Guangdongers illegally eating and selling placentas. But, baby eating? No way. Especially when the accounts sound as ridiculous as this one by the Seoul Times:
A factory manager was interviewed and he testified that it [eating babies] is effective because he is a frequent customer.
It is a delicacy whereby expensive herbs are added to boil the baby with chicken meat for eight hours.
He pointed to his second wife next to him. She is 19 years old. The 62-year-old man testified that they have sex everyday.
After waiting for a couple of weeks he took the reporter to the restaurant when he was informed by the restaurant manager that the spare rib soup (local code for baby soup) was now available.
……..Dead babies can be purchased in Taiwan for 70 US dollars for being used as grilled delicacies.
Now statistically it’s possible that baby consumption has happened in China, but making it out to be a common practice seems ludicrous. If that were the case, why aren’t the NY Times, Guardian, and other major publications all over this like flies on shit? Also, amazing that the first site that pops up when you Google “dead baby eating china” is urbanlegends.com followed by the above vid. The only reason we’re devoting this much time to something we deem so ridiculous it has the potential to spark or strengthen anti-Chinese sentiment ie, – “Jews will steal your gold,” and “Chinese people will eat your babies.” Especially since, while it’s not been covered by major rags, it has circulated an uncomfortable number of medium-sized publications recently.
Who knows, maybe a substantiated report will come along that’ll prove it, but as of now, our bullshit senses are tingling. Judge for yourself.
