Shanghai has once again been ranked number one in an annual survey listing the top 10 most attractive cities in China for expats, conducted with the help of 1,663 foreign experts and over 70,000 foreign netizens.
The survey, Amazing China — The Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners, first came out in 2010 and is a joint project created by the International Talent Monthly and the China Society for Research on International Personnel Exchange and Development.
According to China Daily, the survey is based on four major indexes including
number of McDonald’s policy environment, political environment, working environment and living environment.
This is the second consecutive year in a row that Shanghai has topped the list, followed by Beijing at number two.
The list is illustrated as follows [via China Daily]:
According to China.org:
Located in the Yangtze River Delta in eastern China, Shanghai is China’s No.1 fashionable and modern metropolis. It is a major financial center and the busiest container port in the world.
Ranking first in all of the four major fields including policy, administration and working and living environment, Shanghai has been voted the most attractive city for foreigners for two consecutive years now. It is especially famous for its international atmosphere, multicultural environment, salaries, personal rights protection and children’s education. It is second only to Beijing in its employment policy.
“In my view, Shanghai is the most influential and friendly Chinese city. For foreign expats, it provides the best living and working environment in China,” one participant was quoted as saying in the survey.
