Originally designed as an overspill point for Kunming, Yunnan Province, Chenggong has ended up as one of the biggest ghost towns in China. These photos of it will give you an eery Chernobyl-esque vibe.
The town contains hundreds of finished high rise buildings, shopping malls, luxury villas and even a large stadium, all of which are abandoned.
“In Chenggong, there are more than 100,000 new apartments with no occupants,” according to the World Bank.
Last year, 700 mountains were proposed to be flattened for building a new city in the desert.
