An unidentified expatriate man died yesterday morning after a six-story fall from the elevated highway leading to Pudong International Airport, in an apparent suicide. Police are currently investigating the case, and details are still quite sparse.
The most information so far comes from a short Global Times article and some internet chatter (Chinese) and the basic narrative goes:
The deceased, who was not identified, was taking a taxi to the airport when he inexplicably stepped out of the vehicle as it slowed down on the highway, according to a statement from Shanghai’s airport police division Monday.
After the fall, the man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
There have yet to be any official comments from the police or local authorities, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any details as they emerge.
