Cat Power @ Qianshuiwan
She’s a legendary singer-songwriter who emerged in the ’90s and was signed by Matador. This is the highlight of the festival, at one of Shanghai’s best-sounding venues. Certainly one of the best live shows we’ve seen to come through China in 2013.

He’s a go-to guy if you want a huge, party rocking atmosphere, one of those DJs who makes himself the star of the show. The founder of Dim Mak Records, he was last here for a show at G+, when he rode around the crowd in an inflatable boat, smearing cake on the faces of the assembled masses. Expect that kind of a show.

TNT is reviving their highly acclaimed version of Shakespeare’s darkest and most exciting tragedy. The production has toured to over twenty countries on three continents, in venues as diverse as a ruined plantation house in Atlanta to Windsor Castle, from major theatres in Tokyo and Berlin to palaces in Verona and Stockholm.

Phantom of the Opera @ Shanghai Culture Square
The world renowned Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber musical ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ comes to Shanghai. Based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, its central plot revolves around a beautiful soprano, Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, disfigured musical genius. Seen by over 130 million people in 145 cities in 27 countries, and continues to play in both London and New York and now Shanghai.
