The man who jumped on top of a subway train at Zhongshan Park Station on Wednesday and rode off, unmindful of onlookers and commuter norms, was reportedly under the influence of drugs, reports say. He’s still the man.
Shanghai Daily reports that the man in his 30s hopped on the train at 8:23 a.m. and rode it for what is was worth until being apprehended by police shortly after.
Police said he was hallucinating after taking drugs. He said he felt that someone was chasing him and that was why he climbed to the roof of the train.
Changqing District police are investigating the case. They also said the man has had a history of stealing, among other crimes.
