Yes, flash mobs are still a thing, and yes, we’re all quietly bitter that we’ve never been invited to join one. This particular effort, seasonally themed, took place in Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport earlier this week and included over 300 Cathay Pacific Airway pilots, cabin crew and ground staff.
The flash mob came to be after seven long rehearsals within the past two weeks. All the proceeds gathered from the crowd will go Hong Kong’s Operation Santa charity drive.
The airline has performed similar dances for fundraising events in the past, but this is the first time pilots joined the mob.
“This year, we pilots wanted to show some support too,” first officer Warwick Kendall said in an SCMP report. “The enthusiasm of all the people involved was very memorable.”
