Earlier this week, Usain Bolt created a Weibo post challenging bus drivers in China to race against him in their vehicle as he ran on foot. One woman from Dalian accepted his proposed challenge, saying that she was confident she could take him on in a 300-meter race.
“Are there any Chinese buses that want to race against me?” the Jamaican runner (widely regarded as the fastest person ever) posted to his Weibo account, not long after beating a Buenos Aires bus in a similar 80-meter race on Sunday.
Thousands of people replied to the post, but Wang Yang, a public bus driver in Dalian with 15 years of experience, was the first to accept the challenge.
Wang said that given the time it takes for a bus to accelerate up to its full speed, it would be unlikely to beat Bolt in a 100-meter race, but she was confident she could beat the champion in a 300-meter race.
Bolt hasn’t responded to the reply yet, but we’re anxiously awaiting to see if he’s up to it.
